ESTIGMATIZATION OF CONDOM USE IN RULINDO DISTRICT  

0n 17/10/2009 Rulindo District in collaboration with PSI concluded a week dedicated to public awareness company and demystification of the use of condom as one of the methods to protect the population against HIV/AIDS and as a way of promoting family planning. The event took place at Kinihira sector and it got a huge turn up.

The guest of honor was the minister of heath and among so many visitors we can mention committee of social affairs in parliament (chamber of deputies) led by its president NTAWUKURIRYAYO J.Damascène, member of parliament who originate from Rulindo district,the governor of Northern Province, the representatives of different NGOs such as Champ, USAID and others.

In the context of demystifying condom use, the population through sketchdemonstrated what they knew about condom and different views they had about it and the committee of social affairs in parliament(chamber of deputies) taught by demonstration the gathering the importance of condom use and how to use it in safe way and encouraged the population to use condom so as not only to protect themselves against AIDS but also from unwanted pregnancies.

The minister of heath Richard Sezibera thanked Rulindo district to have initiated such act of demystifying the use of condom as one of  the ways to deal with the challenges of high increase of the population and urged that the population should  produce few children whom they can educate up to University level. Also the minister took an occasion to ask to the  population to put efforts needed together to end up with the problem of malnutrition which still observed in the country through making a good use of kitchen garden and feeding their children with a balanced diet.
