Rulindo Women Commit to Strengthening Families and Advancing Women’s Development

 

During the General Assembly of the National Women’s Council in Rulindo District, women representatives reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their contribution to family development and promoting women’s advancement.

The meeting was held under the theme “The Role of Women in Building Safe and Empowered Families.” It was attended by the Mayor of Rulindo District, Madam MUKANYIRIGIRA Judith, who was also the Guest of Honour, along with security organs, some members of the District Council, and District partners.

In her presentation, the Coordinator of the National Women’s Council in Rulindo District, Madam NGARUYIMANZI Diane, highlighted achievements made over the past five years in improving citizens’ well-being, particularly in strengthening family welfare, promoting family development, and empowering women.

She noted that women’s contribution to the development of families and the country continues to grow, and emphasized the importance of women working together, participating in decision-making, and investing their efforts in initiatives that contribute to their own development and that of their families.

Participants also received a presentation on the upcoming decentralized local government elections, delivered by a representative of the National Electoral Commission in the Northern Province. Women were encouraged to actively participate in electoral processes and play a meaningful role in governance, both by voting and by standing for election to various leadership positions.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for participants to exchange views on the theme of the day. They identified challenges that continue to affect family well-being and discussed possible solutions, as well as the role of partners in addressing these challenges.

Participants emphasized that collaboration among women, local authorities, security organs, development partners, and citizens at large is essential to building safe and empowered families capable of making a meaningful contribution to the development of Rulindo District and the country as a whole.

The meeting concluded with the signing of performance commitments between Mutimawurugo representatives and the Mayor of Rulindo District, Madam MUKANYIRIGIRA Judith. Through these commitments, they pledged to strengthen efforts aimed at promoting family development, addressing challenges affecting family well-being, and contributing to the development of the District.

These commitments demonstrate the determination of women in Rulindo to continue serving as key partners in building safe, empowered families committed to sustainable development.
