RULINDO LAUNCHES BIOMETRICS REGISTRATION FOR RESIDENTS TO RECEIVE NEW DIGITAL IDs

Rulindo District has begun photographing residents as part of the registration process for new biometric national identity cards, commonly known as digital IDs.

The activity was officially launched by a Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Development, Rugerinyange ThĂ©oneste, alongside the Executive Secretary of Base Sector. The launch took place in Gitare Cell, one of the cells that make up Base Sector.

The biometric registration activity is also being conducted across the other seven sectors of Rulindo District.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring that residents obtain digital national identity cards that will make it easier and faster for them to access a wide range of public and other essential services.

Addressing residents who attended the launch, Vice Mayor Rugerinyange Théoneste highlighted the importance of the digital ID and its role in improving service delivery.

He urged residents to actively participate in the registration activity and encourage those who have not yet been photographed to do so as soon as possible, so that everyone can obtain the new digital identity card.

The district administration also reminded residents that participating in this activity is important, as the digital ID is part of broader efforts to strengthen technology-based services and make access to different services more convenient for citizens.

The photography activity is continuing across all sectors of Rulindo District. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity and complete the registration process.

Photographing and identity verification are being conducted at the cell level to bring the service closer to residents. The exercise is available every day of the week, from Monday to Sunday, allowing people who may be unable to attend during regular working days to participate
