Dr. Usta Kayitesi Urges Rulindo Residents to Prioritize Cleanliness, Security and Fight Human Trafficking
Residents across all sectors of Rulindo District on Saturday took part in the monthly community work, Umuganda, marking the end of July, with district-level activities held in Rutonde Cell, Shyorongi Sector.
The Community work was attended by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Usta Kayitesi, alongside members of the Rulindo District Executive Committee and representatives of security organs.
Participants carried out general cleaning activities and rehabilitated a road as part of efforts to improve sanitation, protect public infrastructure, and enhance community well-being.
Following the community work, local leaders met with residents to provide updates on ongoing development initiatives in the district and encouraged them to continue actively participating to ensure the projects deliver lasting benefits.
Residents also received awareness messages on avoiding substandard alcoholic beverages and combating drug abuse to safeguard public health and strengthen family and community safety.
As part of efforts to maintain security, citizens were urged to remain vigilant by promptly reporting any activities that could threaten public safety. They were also encouraged to combat illegal mining and comply with measures aimed at preventing the spread of Rift Valley Fever (RVF).
In her address, Dr. Kayitesi highlighted the importance of cleanliness, calling on residents to maintain personal hygiene, keep their homes clean, and ensure proper hygiene in their clothing, noting that cleanliness is the foundation of good health.
She also calls for parents to strengthen the education and guidance of their children, particularly young people, to protect them from crime and the risks of human trafficking. She emphasized that cooperation among families, communities, and government institutions is essential in preventing the crime.
