RULINDO RESIDENTS CELEBRATE UMUGANURA DAY , URGED TO PROMOTE UNITY AND SELF-RELIANCE
Residents across Rulindo district gathered to celebrate Umuganura day, as a Rwanda’s traditional harvest festival, reflecting on achievements made over the past year and discussing ways to further improve community welfare and local development.
This year’s celebration was held under the theme, “Umuganura: A Source of Unity and a Foundation for Self-Reliance.”
At the Northern Province level, the main celebrations took place in Masoro Sector, Rulindo District, and were attended by Northern Province Governor Maurice MUGABOWAGAHUNDE, who served as the guest of honour.
The event included the inauguration of the Kabuga Cell office in Masoro Sector and an exhibition showcasing achievements made by residents during the year. Farmers and other community members displayed various agricultural products and development initiatives, highlighting their contribution to improving livelihoods in the district.
During the celebrations, leaders reminded residents that Umuganura is an important Rwandan cultural tradition that promotes unity, gratitude and the sharing of achievements while recognizing everyone’s contribution to national development.
Rulindo district officials urged residents to use Umuganura as an opportunity to celebrate progress, assess remaining challenges and strengthen Rwandan values based on unity, cooperation and self-reliance.
Residents were encouraged to increase productivity, make good use of available opportunities and actively participate in development programs to improve their families’ livelihoods and contribute to the district’s growth.
Governor MUGABOWAGAHUNDE called on residents to continue promoting unity and cooperation, which he described as essential foundations for sustainable development.
He also urged them to reject the genocide ideology and work together to build a peaceful and inclusive Rwandan society founded on tolerance and mutual respect.
The Governor further warned residents against substandard alcoholic beverages and illegal mining, urging them to engage in lawful economic activities and contribute to maintaining security and development in their communities.
The Umuganura celebrations concluded with a call for residents to continue working together, sharing their achievements and merging their efforts to advance unity, self-reliance and Rwandan cultural values.
